Sitting at the kitchen island, having a morning cup of coffee with her husband, my wife was on a roll. She delivered a beautiful monologue about health and exercise, diet and eating right, and brain exercises. Took her fifteen minutes to get it all tied together. And at the end she asked what I thought.

My mindless response…”Well, you are keeping your vocal chords in good shape.”

Later I kept thinking about that old Country-Western song, “That’s What I Should Have Said.” Of course, that’s what I should not have said.

But, we’re friends again…finally…after she smacked me on the shoulder. And after she laughed.
