Reviews for Spider Silk
Good plot. Clear, clean writing. Interesting characters. It’s a relief to find someone who can tell (and write!) a good story in a straightforward, uncomplicated way. Almost like you’re sitting around a camp fire listening to the guide spin a yarn. I just wish he’d spun the story out the whole nine yards and not dribbled the end of it into an epilogue.
Collins knows the territory and makes good use of his experiences. Before the reader is done they’ll have read about a murder, cattle resulting and embezzlement. All in all, it makes me want to buy the author’s other two books and to hope for more.
Collins is a natural storyteller who has obviously put in the hard hours of rewriting needed to make reading him an easy pleasure. He’s created a character, Sheriff Bud Blair, who is real and familiar enough to live just down the street, but at the same time principled and heroic enough to admire from afar. It’s worth your time to read this well-spun yarn.
This book is the first of a series, and not to mention a great start to a great character story. It was hard for me to put it down once I started reading it. I love how the author used Southern Oregon as the setting for this thriller. Being from that area, I can really picture the scenes he has the characters working in. Excellent writing!!! I loved this book!
This book draws you in from the very beginning. This book blends the beautiful Oregon high desert with modern day criminal activities. It is a page turner from beginning to end.
What a great book for mystery, action and a little romance to. A real page turner, The characters feel very real, the good and the bad.
The story move’s quickly and is multi dimensional, a lot of story lines at one time it keeps you guessing and turning the pages. Great read!, You’ll also want to read Rod’s book Stone Fly and I am also looking forward to getting his book Bloodstone. They all stand alone but is best to read them in order, Spider Silk, Stone Fly then Bloodstone.
Almost forgot to say that all the places in his book are real, out in the beautiful high desert of Central Oregon. I have read best sellers that were not this good!
