A canyon between the Oregon towns of Gold Hill and Rogue River plays host to a place known as the House of Mystery. The sign for it is on the old highway just west of Gold Hill. I’ll use the word “weird” to describe the place. Trees grow at perpendicular angles to the slope, and none of the buildings look to be level or straight up and down. A short person standing on one end of a platform will appear to be taller than a tall person standing on the other end. And photographs prove the illusion. It’s worth spending half an hour there. I’d suggest to take a camera. (And maybe one short person.)
Rationally, we know trees don’t grow perpendicular to the slope. It’s only an appearance, but there has to be an explanation. Right? Someone in the past described it as a magnetic vortex. I’m not sure what the mechanics of that might be, but there are other locations on the planet exhibiting the same “weirdness.”
Take my neighborhood for example. Our house sets on one leg of a horseshoe shaped loop. I’ve measured it at six-tenths of a mile. Makes for a nice loop hike. The only problem is the road runs uphill…no matter which direction I go. I spent four trips around the loop a couple days ago testing it, hiking in opposite directions each time. And…believe it or not…it is all uphill both ways. Not possible you might say, but what if it is evidence of another vortex? (Hmm. I wonder what the physical effects might be from walking in a vortex? Will I become shorter? Maybe I should rethink the notion of hiking in the vortex at all.)

Hi, my dad is 91 years old and he reads your books but can not find the Bloodstone book. We have tried a ton of places and can only find the kindle version. He only likes books…….do you know of a way to find the Bloodstone book? It is the only one he is missing in the series. Please let me know if you do. I would greatly appreciate it.
