I’m feeling pretty optimistic about life this morning. I think that’s because I didn’t watch, read or hear a lick of news yesterday…other than the weather report, of course. (I’m addicted to weather numbers, snow reports, and radar maps.)
News outlets feed on sensational stuff…murder, robbery, storms, disasters, terrorism, and the (always) looming economic disaster. Medical ads on TV are no better. They just scare the crap out of me with their lists of terrible diseases the pharmaceuticals have treatments for. (The required list of possible side-effects from these super meds is just as scary. I mean, if I really had a disease, wouldn’t the meds kill me anyway?)
My answer isn’t to stick my head in the sand…like I really could in this information age. Instead I’m going to rely on those friends who can’t seem to ignore the news. I’m sure they will tell me when something really, really important happens.
In the meantime, I’m just going to try and enjoy life, not flood it with toxic news and television ads. I should have time for more good books, bowling with my grandkids, drowning worms, and learning how to cook the paleo way.
