Thinking our house would sell, we didn’t plant a garden. But Mother Nature is persistent if nothing else. An untended deck pot sprouted one dinner plate dahlia, and another pot grew one volunteer snapdragon. We had one picking of strawberries before something happened to interrupt the growing process. (Too much fertilizer? Maybe.) One glad grew and bloomed. And one…just one…marigold came up next to the glad. That’s it. Well, I did plant my petunias. I’m a petunia guy. Everything else withers and dies while petunias just keep blooming. My kind of flower. I’m big on garden neglect.
I did sucker in on two 50 cent tomato plants that no one else wanted. So far we have gotten one tomato on one plant, and two blooms on the other. Given our hot days, I’m sure that will be it.
And I did write…or maybe “draft” is a better word…one new novel. Maybe next year will be a season of two, and I’ll write two books, and maybe grow two tomatoes.
Oh, yes. The book is titled Not Before Midnight. Target release date is October 1. Get it? October 1?
